The atmosphere was excellent, the food was surprisingly top notch and the price was decent! It is a version of Old Spaghetti Factory but Cripple Creek style--complete with spumoni included in the entree price. The service was lackluster but it usually is in small towns. Portion sizes were ginormous so make sure you're hungry! Skip the gross casinos and dine here--I don't see how you could be disappointed!

We were staying 20 mins away and decided to try this place out. And we are so glad we did. The food was exceptional and the service was outstanding. We loved the lasagna, linguini, soup, and even the homemade honey mustard dressing. Not to be missed!

Excellent experience!!! The Red Rooster is the lunch/bar location. They have a decent selection of bar choices but the food is the best! We started with the cheesy garlic bread with marinara. I had the tri-tip sandwich with aju and onion rings. Amazing! My friend had the veggie sandwich and it looked (and she did it was) fantastic. I will totally recommend this to everyone!

We ate at the Midland Depot. The ambiance is nice, our waitress was sweet, and service was prompt. But the main entree was horrid. The Chicken Marsala was fried chicken breasts covered with a gelatinous goo that appeared to be a mash of onions and mushrooms. I didn't taste any Marsala wine at all. It was almost inedible, and disappointing as it was their featured speciality dish.

Inside the Imperial Hotel which is a unique hotel refurbished but still an original historic building. The restaurant has a cool old school feel and is playing some classic crooner style music. They serve predominantly Italian fare and they give huge portions. Service was fast and friendly with great drink prices and choices of wine, beer and mixed drinks. The Red Rooster is the name of the bar and their signature drink which was quite tasty. Recommend the garlic cheese bread as an appetizer but it is a healthy portion so be mindful. We had two different Italian dishes both were served hot and fresh and cooked very well. I had the fettuccine Alfredo carbanera and it was definitely a huge portion and very tasty. All the entrees come with a salad, bread and ice cream at the end. If you are looking for a five star restaurant there really is none in Cripple Creek but this is a solid top choice if you are visiting and want something other than bar or casino food. Prices are very reasonable and for two meals, and appetizer and drinks our bill was less than $50 bucks.

I usually don't write reviews and am not one to complaint easily, but this place is something else. Not sure what state the other casino visitors were in when they rated this place. I completely 2nd the poor rating given by the other person. Awesome setting, nice staff, good music, horrific food. Their sampler platter was basic. Their chicken Marsala was awful. Deep fried chicken, super dry, mushroom goo, plain pasta underneath. No seasoning. They have a decent selection of craft beers in bottles. This compensated for the mean and took them up to 1 star.

The Midland Depot restaurant is located in the dining room of the old Imperial Hotel, an historic and haunted site. After parking in the rear and making our way to the dining room, we were greeted and seated immediately. The Victorian era trimmings make the area seem more opulent than it is. The menu is simple but thorough, having all the most popular Italian dishes plus some steaks. We ordered the cheesy garlic bread as an appetizer and the Fettuccine Carbonara and meaty ravioli for our entrée's. The bread was a wonderful accompaniment to the large, fresh salads which came with our dinners (the thick ranch dressing was wonderful and the Caesar salad, delicious). The fettuccine was perfectly cooked and the thick, rich Alfredo sauce full of bacon and peas was incredible! The raviolis were full of meat and covered in a thick, tasty marinara sauce. The bread was useful in mopping up those wonderful sauces. Spumoni ice cream ended the meal with a light sweet touch (and it was included in the very reasonable entree price). I'm very glad we came here - a wonderful place for dinner in Cripple Creek!

Nice little lunch spot in Cripple Creek. My girl and I shared a sandwich and it was plenty for the both of us. The staff here are most friendly and accommodating as well. Definitely recommend a visit if you find yourself in this neck of the woods.

Ok. I really wanted to like this place. It's in a hotel with a really cool historic interior. 5 minute wait at the unattended front desk for one of at least 5 empty tables. A wine list I would expect at an inner city Detroit pizzeria. My lovely bride order chicken Marsala and seriously doubted if Marsala wine was used in its preparation. I ordered fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp added. No shrimp on the Alfredo. Not a big deal. I learned from a former restaurant chef never to send anything back. A very small amount of food (good for the diet) but couldn't finished but half of it. Bland, pasty, completely devoid of flavor. Ouch. Spinoni ice cream was palatable. Service once seated was ok.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
